With our Canonical URL Management feature, via your store’s admin system you can indicate to Google that you’d like one URL to take authority over another URL on your site that presents identical results. Where two pages on your store display the same products - for example, if you stock a brand that only sells coats - it isn't beneficial for Google to crawl both the brand page and coats page for that brand, as it creates a conflict of interest as both pages will use the same keywords to target traffic, resulting in identical or duplicate content appearing on multiple URLs. Large scale duplication is likely to dilute your store’s search engine ranking which means that canonicalising your URLs can improve its SEO while also helping to ensure that customers are pointed to the right pages on your store.
