Although voice search was initially introduced by Google way back in 2011, it wasn’t immediately embraced en masse, however it’s gained much more momentum in recent years and has become a staple feature. Voice recognition technology has now become part of our everyday lives, with virtual assistants such as Alexa and Siri now more widely used, and an increasing number of devices that respond to voice commands - some studies indicate that over 40% of all adults now use voice search at least once per day.

With our Voice Search feature, you can capitalise on the growing trend and offer shoppers an innovative way to search for products on your online store, enhancing the user experience and allowing you to reach new customers. Customers can use the feature simply by clicking on a microphone icon within the search bar on your store, and then stating what they’re looking for - the feature automatically converts spoken words into text, and then searches for relevant results. If a customer’s microphone is turned off, the feature will prompt them to change their microphone permissions and where a browser is incompatible or the microphone option remains turned off, the voice search icon will remain hidden to avoid user friction.
